  1. Support of Kodak Photo CD
  2. -------------------------

  4. PMPro supports PCD graphics. This graphic file format is exclusively
  5. designed for and used on Photo CD4s. Additionally, PMPro is able to 
  6. read Portfolio Photo-CD's.
  7.  
  8. With the programs PhotoView and MultiConvert, you may also
  9. display PCD graphics without starting PMPro or convert these to
  10. e.g. IFF. Conversion may of course also be managed directly within
  11. PMPro (see chapter Marked/Convert or Found/Convert).

  14. Configuration:

  17.  Before processing graphics from a Photo-CD you have to specify within
  18.  the settings which drive your CD-ROM is using (CD0:, CD1:, etc.)
  19.  Here you also need to specify which resolution should be used for
  20.  displaying the graphic.

  23. Cataloguing:

  26.  For cataloguing graphics of Photo-CDs Picture Manager Professional
  27.  supports two possible methods:
  28.  
  29.  1.) Via Expand/Photo-CD. The content of the corresponding file on
  30.      the PhotoCD will be examined and the thumbnails will be extracted
  31.      and catalogued. A Pixel size of 96x64 will be used for this.
  32.      Rescaling of PMPro's native thumbnail sizes is not possible 
  33.      using this method. This is only possible when using the second
  34.      slower method of cataloguing PCD graphics.

  36.  2.) By calling Expand/Directories (and of course also single files)
  37.      the PCD graphics on the PhotoCD's may be catalogued just the
  38.      same way as IFF and other graphic file formats.
  39.      PCD graphics of a Photo-CD are stored within the directory
  40.      /PHOTO_CD/IMAGES of the CD.

  42.  Should problems occur with the first method, please use the second one
  43.  for cataloguing PCD graphics.

  46. Restrictions and notes:

  49.  Picture Manager only supports PCD resolutions up to 764x512 pixels.
  50.  For screen displays and printer output this is entirely sufficient.
  51.  Higher resolutions require a lot of RAM (up to 20 MB of Fast memory)
  52.  and an extremely fast processor.
  53.  Also, displaying of higher resolutions would not actually be possible
  54.  on an Amiga, since more than 2 MB graphic memory (Chip RAM) are
  55.  needed. It is possible that future versions of PMPro will also support
  56.  those higher resolutions.
